Remediation

October 6th 2025

October 6th! Remediation work starts today.
It’s been exactly 2 years on the dot since closing day. Must be a sign…

October 6th 2025

Remediation starts with PureDry sealing off Laundry, office and bathroom downstairs, master bathroom upstairs, and furnace in the garage. Adding fans for negative pressure and HEPA filters.

October 6th 2025

Remediation continues with PureDry removing all Air Ducts, Insulation and Vapor Barrier from the crawlspace.

October 9th 2025

PureDry has made great progress…

October 9th 2025

Greenwood Heating came out to take the furnace apart. They replaced the evaporator coil, and PureDry cleaned all the parts, then Greenwood put it all back together.

October 12th 2025

The bathroom was not cleaned properly. Almost not really. I called Puredry, and they finally made it out on Sunday.

October 13th 2025

Better…

But not great. Still dust in various places, and PureDry refused to remove the pan, even though it was a simple pan and attached with only two screws. I removed it, took less than a minute.

October 13th 2025

Phase 1 of the crawlspace restoration: SF 2 inch “Butter” Crawlspace subfloor, which is a 2 inch R15 closed cell spray foam to air seal crawlspace subfloor.

October 14th 2025

Took some time to drive up to Parr to look for a new bathroom vanity. Then off to Andy’s 5 Star Flooring to get LVP samples for the office and bedroom.

October 16th 2025

They couldn’t get everything done in one day, had to come back on Tuesday, and then done late afternoon. With a mandatory 24hr home vacancy, Thursday morning was the first time I could get back in and inspect. Unfortunately they spray foamed most of the air vents as well. Luckily PureDry had them sealed them with plastic sheets prior. They came back out the next day to fix the problem.

October 20th 2025

Eagle & Son is here to add new air ducts in the crawlspace, create a new fixed duct for the intake, and add a new intake for 2nd floor.

First order is to add main trunk line and seal it.

October 22th 2025

The new hard duct intake is done.

October 23rd 2025

The new air intake for upstairs. Although I need to move this at some later point. It is too close to the three outlets and it will just suck in the air that just got blown into the room. That’s not proper circulation, that’s a waste of energy. I will tackle this after all is done.

The flex ducts are now all in.

October 24th 2025

American Crawlspace are back for phase 2: insulate sub-floor with R30 19″ fiberglass batts, wrap water pipes, and install a 12mil vapor barrier with wood framing. It took them a whole day til 6:45pm.

October 24th 2025

I took the day to drive down to Gaia in Kent to pick up the LVP. About 1200 lbs total. My car’s spec said it could handle 1250 exactly, but I didn’t want to take any chance, so I rented a van.

It was pouring rain that day and unfortunately the van had a leak in the roof. Some boxes got soaked, but LVP is waterproof, so it wasn’t really a big deal.

October 25th 2025

Major storm. Gusts of 80mph. Several people lost their lives.

Caught the last 2-3 seconds of one of those sideways gusts. We lost power and internet for several days.

October 27th 2025

Greenwood Heating is back to reconnect the furnace. We still do not have power, but fortunately, the power generator gave him all he needed to fire up the furnace. He said that was his first.

And hurray, we have heat again!

Lisa Anderson Carpet are here as well to clean the carpets after all this traffic and hauling dirt out of the house.

October 28th 2025

Eagle & Son are back to check on the air intake as it is not properly sealed. Some of the vents are also not having sufficient air coming out. Much less than before. They’ll come back next week to address the issues.

October 28th 2025

At HomeDepot getting underlayment, glue and screws for the new floors.

OSB is too flimsy and weak. But alternatives are way more expensive. Like 3-4 times.

October 29th 2025

Time to remove the carpet, pad, tack strips and nail clips. Then underlayment…

Then underlayment

October 30th 2025

Then LVP

I changed my mind last minute and instead of Maple in the bedroom, I chose to go with the Cherry. Packed up the night before, then drove first thing in the morning down to Gaia in Kent to exchange.

October 31st 2025

November 3rd 2025

Totally Safe Air are fogging the entire house and wiping/washing the walls and ceilings today.

November 4th 2025

Eagle & Son to repair intake duct that is not properly sealed
